PARS UK is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising standards in self-employed services with voluntary licensure. We offer a trusted registration service for virtual personal assistants (VPAs) across the UK, verifying references, and key competencies in privacy and data handling. Registered PAs receive a license number and URL—serving as a digital certificate of trustworthiness and professionalism—alongside access to essential resources, including a non-disclosure agreement and service agreement template. By helping employers make safer, informed choices, PARS UK reduces the risk of data breaches and misconduct, and helps build trust right from the word go between VPA and employer.
Employers
We offer voluntary licensure to VPA's that have evidenced genuine references and an understanding of how to handle private client data responsibly; this helps to build a foundation of trust between client and freelancer and reduces the risk of fraud and the mis-handling of sensitive information. Best of all, it costs just £50 to pair with a registered virtual assistant and there is no fee added to the hourly rate VPA's set for themselves.
We tested the hiring robustness of the biggest UK agencies providing VPA services and found most do not perform reference checks and none required any formal training or course material on the handling of private client data.
Data is misused everyday by large businesses who have appropriate infrastructure; so how do individual VPA's show competency handling yours? VPA registration is dependant on completion of our Security & Privacy Aware (SPA) exam.
References supplied during the application phase are checked rigourously for authenticity with direct contact made to previous clients. A 2 year work history in secretarial services or transferable skills in a similar occupation is required.
